SHOP WITH ME
I THINK ONE OF THE MOST CHALLENGING THINGS IS GROCERY SHOPPING FOR THE WEEK. SO I DECIDED TO SHARE SOME TIPS OF HOW I SHOP HEALTHY FOR THE WEEK, and BONUS* I SNAPPED A PICK OF MY COSTCO LIST! A FEW THINGS TO make this whole process easier iS HAVING A LIST BEFORE YOU GO! it also helps if you have a menu for the week, OR AT LEAST ideas for LUNCH AND DINNER. hint* pick recipes that use the same ingredients. I ALWAYS SHOP AT COSTCO, WHOLE FOODS AND for FRESH PRODUCE I USUALLY GO TO MY LOCAL HEALTH FOOD STORE or farmers markets. Everything i BUY is ORGANIC/non gmo and/OR LOCAL. its been a goal of mine to get a garden going, so hopefully that happens sooner than later. tips when shopping:
- TRY TO BUY FOODS IN THEIR WHOLE STATE, WHOLE FOODS!
- IF THERE IS A LABEL (CHECK IT AND READ IT) IF YOU CAN'T PRONOUNCE AN INGREDIENT (OR 5) ON THE LABEL THEN YOU PROBABLY SHOULDN'T BUY IT OR EVEN CONSIDER EATING IT.
- KNOW WHAT YOU NEED, HAVE A LIST.
- STICK TO YOUR LIST AND DON'T JUST WANDER THE ISLES, GET IN AND GET OUT.
- BUY SEASONAL, IT WILL SAVE YOU $$$.
- DON'T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ ON THE PACKAGES!
- EVEN LABELED "ORGANIC" FOODS CAN BE A BIG SCAM AS WELL, THATS WHY ITS BEST TO READ THE BACK OF THE LABEL WHEN BUYING ORGANIC FOODS and check the ingredients list, ESPECIALLY IF THAT LIST IS LONG, YOU PROBABLY DON'T NEED IT.
- BUY FOODS THAT ARE GOOD FOR YOU AND YOUR BODY, YOUR BODY NEEDS NUTRIENTS AND VITAMINS AND YOU CAN'T GET THOSE FROM A BOX OF ORGANIC VEGAN GLUTEN FREE CEREAL.
