FACE TO FACE

SKIN CARE WAS NEVER APART OF MY DAILY ROUTINE UP UNTIL A FEW YEARS AGO. OVER THE YEARS OF BEING IN THE MODELING INDUSTRY, I'VE COLLECTED SOME SKIN CARE SECRETS AND TIPS.

  1. HYDRATION IS KEY IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN CLEAR SKIN, SO DRINK UP!
  2. MOISTURIZE DAY AND NIGHT!  SINCE EVERYONE'S SKIN IS DIFFERENT, FIND A MOISTURIZER THAT WORKS FOR YOU AND YOUR SKIN.  I HAVE A DAY CREAM AND A NIGHT CREAM, SOMETIMES I WILL USE OIL THAT HELPS ACNE OR IRRITATED SKIN AS A SUBSTITUTE INSTEAD OF MY NIGHT CREAM.  DURING THE DAY MY SKIN TENDS TO GET OILY IN MY T ZONE, SO I USE A MOISTURIZER THAT IS FOR OILY SKIN IN THAT AREA, FOR EVERYWHERE ELSE I USE A REGULAR HYDRATING MOISTURIZER. I HAVE FOUND THAT USING NATURAL OR ORGANIC PRODUCTS WORKS BEST FOR ME.
  3. LET YOUR FACE BREATHE!  IT'S BEST TO ALLOW YOUR SKIN TO BREATH EVERY OTHER DAY IF YOU CAN.  TRY TO AVOID WEARING ANY MAKEUP THAT DAY, BUT DO PUT ON A LIGHT SUNSCREEN IF YOUR GOING TO BE OUT AND ABOUT IN THE SUN, YOUR SKIN WILL THANK YOU.  IF YOU AREN'T COMFORTABLE GOING OUT WITHOUT MAKEUP, MASCARA AND A LITTLE EYELINER WON'T HURT, BUT AVOID THE CHEEKS, FOREHEAD AND NOSE.   FOR ME, MY FACE IS CONSTANTLY COVERED IN HEAVY MAKEUP SO I AVOID WEARING MAKEUP ON MY FREE TIME.
  4. WORKOUT WITHOUT A FACE! WORKING OUT WITH MAKEUP ISN'T THE BRIGHTEST IDEA WHEN TRYING TO MAINTAIN OR OBTAIN CLEAR SKIN.  IF YOU FEEL THE NEED TO, TRY TO ONLY APPLY TO THE EYES OR DIRECTLY UNDER THE EYES OR WHERE YOU DESPERATELY NEED IT, OTHERWISE AVOID ALL OTHER AREAS.  SWEAT IS GOOD FOR YOU, BUT REMEMBER TO CLEAN YOUR FACE BEFORE AND AFTER YOU WORKOUT.
  5. WASH AWAY THE DAY! FINDING THE RIGHT FACE WASH WAS A TRIAL AND ERROR PROCESS FOR ME, BUT I DID FIND THAT MIXING UP MY FACE WASH ONCE IN A WHILE HELPED.  I LIKE TO USE A NATURAL FACE WASH AND ONLY ABOUT A DIME SIZE OR LESS.  I AVOID USING A FACE WASH SCRUB FOR MY DAILY WASH BECAUSE I FIND IT'S JUST TOO ROUGH ON YOUR SKIN.  I WILL ONLY USE A SCRUB IF I FEEL THE NEED TOO, LIKE SOMETIMES AFTER A PHOTOSHOOT BUT NO MORE THAN 3 TIMES A MONTH.  AFTER I WASH MY FACE, I'LL RINSE MY FACE WITH COLD WATER THAN PAT IT DRY WITH A CLEAN TOWEL. 
  6. FACE MASK!  I DON'T DO FACE MASKS OFTEN, BUT I DO LOVE ORIGINS CLEAR IMPROVEMENT, ACTIVE CHARCOAL MASK TO CLEAR PORES. ALBA MAKES A REALLY GREAT FACE MASK THAT I USE AS WELL.
  7. COCONUT OIL TO THE RESCUE! TO GIVE MYSELF A HYDRATED AND FRESH LOOK IN THE MORNING, I'LL SLEEP WITH COCONUT OIL ON MY FACE AND EVEN BODY ESPECIALLY WHEN I FEEL THAT MY SKIN IS EXTRA DRY.  I FIND IT DOES WONDERS FOR MY SKIN, ESPECIALLY AFTER TRAVELING.
  8. YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT!  THIS SAYING COULDN'T BE MORE TRUE!  YOU MUST TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION WHAT YOU EAT BECAUSE IT WILL DEFINITELY SHOW UP ON YOUR FACE!  A FRESH HEALTHY DIET WITH LOTS OF WHOLE FOODS, PROTEIN, FRUITS AND VEGETABLES HELPS AND TRY TO AVOID THOSE PROCESSED FOODS AND TEMPTING SWEETS!
  9. BE HAPPY AND TRY NOT TO STRESS!  BELIEVE IT OR NOT, YOUR MOOD AFFECTS YOUR SKIN.  STRESS COMMONLY PRODUCES PIMPLES AND BEING ANGRY OR SAD CAUSES WRINKLES AND DARK SPOTS.  TAKE A DEEP BREATH, THINK POSITIVE AND SMILE MORE :)
  10. SLEEP!  NOT GETTING ENOUGH SLEEP CAN TAKE A HUGE TOLL ON YOUR SKIN WHICH CAN CAUSE ACNE, WRINKLES, DARK CIRCLES, PUFFY EYES, ETC.  TRY TO ALLOW YOURSELF TO GET TO BED EARLY.  WE ALL NEED OUR BEAUTY SLEEP, I WOULD SAY AT LEAST 6-8 HOURS A NIGHT OR ENOUGH TO WHERE YOU FEEL WELL RESTED.
